BURLINGTON, ON – April 10, 2019 – One of Canada’s leading marine services providers, McKeil Marine Limited has purchased the Gagliarda, a dry-bulk cargo vessel. With this exciting addition, McKeil’s diversified fleet, comprised of tugs/barges, workboats, ships and recently-acquired tankers, is on track to support the company’s continued growth and ensure more efficient movement of cargo volumes for its customers.

The Maltese-flagged Gagliarda, built in 2010, is a close sister ship to the Evans Spirit and McKeil Spirit. She measures 140 metres by 21 metres, with a DWT of 14,600 metric tonnes. Currently located in the Mediterranean, the vessel will undergo a brief drydock in Turkey before being repositioned to Canada at the end of May where Canadianization and renaming will take place.

Captain Scott Bravener, President of McKeil, commented: “The acquisition of the Gagliarda maintains our growth trajectory while offering exciting new opportunities to our sailing and shore-based crews, creating value for our investors, and continuing to deliver on the promise to provide added value to our customers.”

The Gagliarda is expected to trade throughout the Great Lakes and Eastern Seaboard, carrying cement powder, grain and other bulk cargo.
